Abstract:
The datasets contained within the DIVER (Data Integration Visualization Exploration and Reporting) data
warehouse primarily include environmental contaminant results from field samples, field observations and
measurements, toxicity test results, and photographs. Data are standardized and integrated into the DIVER
data warehouse for querying, download and analysis. DIVER data may be queried and downloaded from the DIVER
Explorer query tool, which allows users to query integrated data from across different data types, subset
spatially and by collection dates. Data may also be accessed through an ERDDAP data service.
The DIVER Data Specification contains detailed data dictionary information about standardized and integrated
environmental data including field definitions and valid values. The DIVER data model contains several
detailed schema including samples, field observations/measurements, bioassay and photographs. In addition to
structured (spreadsheet) type results, DIVER data packages may also include unstructured data including
field collection information, laboratory information, reports or analysis summaries. More information on
DIVER and Natural Resource Damage Assessment can be found at https://www.diver.orr.noaa.gov/ and
https://darrp.noaa.gov/
Purpose:
NOAA is a steward, or "trustee," for the nation’s coastal and marine resources. We act on behalf of the public
to protect and restore natural resources harmed by oil spills, releases of hazardous waste, and, in some
instances, vessel groundings.
NOAA’s Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP) works with teams of other state,
tribal, and federal trustee agencies, often in cooperation with industry. We also involve the public as we
develop plans for restoration.
NOAA trust resources are living marine resources. They include commercial and recreational fishery resources,
(fish, shellfish, and their habitats), migratory fish species (like salmon and eels), endangered and
threatened marine species (like whales, sea turtles, and their habitats), and other critical habitats (like
marshes, mangroves, seagrass beds, and coral reefs), and resources associated with National Marine
Sanctuaries and National Estuarine Research Reserves.
As part of NOAA’s efforts to protect and restore natural resources, we gather, standardize and integrate
environmental data to support our assessment of injuries. These data may include contaminant chemistry
results from sediment, tissue, water, oil or other collected materials; toxicity test results from sediment
or water conducted in the field or laboratory; field measurements and observations; imagery and photographs
of marine resources.

The DIVER (Data Integration Visualization Exploration and Reporting) Tools were developed to
centralize NRDA collected, Response collected, and historical information relevant to the NRDA. This
data warehouse aggregates and organizes data from DIVER (formerly known as "noaanrda") other NOAA
and non-NOAA data sources. DIVER Reports, Dashboards, and Explorer are the main query points of
